Privacy Policy
Effective October 3, 2026
This policy explains what information Desaepa Vansauwa for Mayor collects through this website and web app, why, and the choices you have.
The short version
- We collect only what you choose to send us, plus anonymous visit statistics.
- We do not sell your information, and we do not use advertising or tracking cookies.
- Card details for donations go to Zeffy, never to this site.
Information you give us
When you use Leave a Comment, we collect your name, the email address and/or phone number you provide, your message, the page you sent it from, and the random visit identifier described below, so we can see which part of the site a message came from.
Anonymous visit statistics
To understand which pages are useful, the site records anonymous statistics about each visit:
- the pages viewed and how long each was on screen;
- a device category (phone, tablet or desktop), worked out from screen width;
- the website that linked you here, if any (the domain only); and
- a campaign tag in the link you followed, such as one on a QR code.
Visits are counted using two random identifiers the site creates in your browser: one that lasts until you clear your site data, and one that lasts only for the current visit. They contain no name, email address or device fingerprint, and we do not store your IP address with these statistics. Visits by signed-in campaign staff are not counted.
Donations
Donations are made through a form provided by Zeffy and shown on our Donate page. Your payment card details go directly to Zeffy; they never pass through or are stored on this site. Zeffy shares contribution records with the campaign, which we use to process, acknowledge and report contributions as the law requires. See our Contribution Policy for what campaign finance law requires us to collect and report. Zeffy’s own privacy policy applies to the information you enter in its form.
Staff accounts
Campaign staff can sign in to a private portal. For those accounts we store the information needed to sign in, such as an email address and name.
How we use information
- to read and respond to your messages;
- to plan the campaign’s outreach, events and priorities;
- to understand how the site is used and improve it; and
- to comply with the law, including campaign finance reporting.
Who we share it with
We do not sell or rent your personal information. We share it only with service providers that run the site on our behalf (website hosting and database services), with Zeffy for donations, and where the law requires it, such as campaign finance reports, which are public records.
The site’s fonts are loaded from Google Fonts, so your browser contacts Google’s servers when a page loads. As with any website, our hosting and service providers may process technical information such as your IP address in order to deliver the site.
Information stored on your device
The site stores the two random visit identifiers described above in your browser’s local storage. When installed as an app, it also keeps copies of pages and images so it can load quickly and show a page when you are offline. Staff sign-in sessions are stored the same way. Clearing this site’s data in your browser settings removes all of it.
How long we keep it
We keep messages and visit statistics for as long as they are useful to the campaign, and contribution records for as long as the law requires. You can ask us to delete a message you sent through Leave a Comment.
Security
Messages and statistics are stored in a database that is not publicly readable, and only signed-in campaign staff can view messages. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, but we work to protect the information you share with us.
Children
This site is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has sent us information, please let us know and we will delete it.
Changes and contact
We may update this policy as the site changes. The effective date at the top shows the latest version. Questions or requests about your information can be sent through Leave a Comment.
